advocacy mental health fact sheets researchWho we are: A non-profit organization providing mental health and addictions services to people in the Sudbury and Manitoulin Districts.
Our current challenge: We require time and resources to advance the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee’s objective to ensure that all CMHA sites are inclusive and culturally safe spaces. This requires further research into best practices and the development of a plan for the continued promotion and provision of safe spaces. Our agency has demonstrated a commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, however human resource limitations do not allow us to advance this important work.
What students can except:
- Contributing to a not for profit through advocacy and the provision of safe, inclusive, and accessible mental health and addictions services.
- Agency support and commitment to advancing the work of the DEI Committee.
- Regular touch points with the Committee to engage and exchange ideas.
Our desired outcome: The foundation for Agency-wide implementation of strategies for creating safe and inclusive spaces, including:
1. A research review and summary of best practices and strategies for the creation of culturally safe and inclusive spaces within the workplace;
2. An implementation plan that provides recommendations for Agency next steps; based on the review of best practices;
3. Development of tools and resources, (e.g. signage, fact sheets) that will support staff with the ongoing promotion of safe and inclusive spaces
Regular touchpoints provided as needed.
Access to the workplan developed by the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.
Access to the literature and resources already gathered by the DEI Committee.
Support to connect with local partners as required.
Access to a work station and agency resources as needed.
